Joe's Cafe

Joe’s Cafe, located inside our new Vaughan flagship store, is dedicated in honour of the late Joseph Ederman, founder of Atlas Tools & Machinery. This unique coffee shop provides a welcoming spot for customers to enjoy a coffee or snack before or after shopping. Joe’s journey began long before 1954, when he opened his first store at 233 Queen St. West in Toronto. Before opening the store, Joe was a plumber who struggled to find high quality tools. He began sourcing plumbing tools in bulk to make them more affordable and sold them to his network of friends and family. Word spread, and demand grew from other trades, prompting Joe to open his store. His passion for quality and helping others led him to build a successful business and play a key role in supporting newcomers to Canada, helping them find work and get started in their careers in the trades.

Joe’s legacy lives on today through Joe’s Cafe, which fosters a strong sense of community. Known for his kindness, respect, and willingness to go above and beyond for his customers, Joe built lasting relationships with everyone who came to his store. Fluent in seven languages, he effortlessly connected with people from all backgrounds and offered a personal touch that made them feel valued. Joe’s Cafe continues to honour his spirit by providing an inviting space where people can come together, ensuring his influence will continue for many years to come at Atlas Tools & Machinery.
